The Fall/Winter 2013/2014 Los Angeles International Textile Show (LA TEXTILE)
took place October 22-24, 2012 at the California Market Center (CMC) with a
solid flow of traffic that included an array of prominent designers,
manufacturers, and production teams. The Show featured hundreds of textile,
trim, luxe, décor, and sourcing resources across a variety of categories, and
positive enthusiasm was exuded throughout the Show floors as new accounts were
opened and a noticeable increase in business was reported. Returning this Show
were the Lenzing Innovation Pavilion, European Collections Pavilion, and the
Korean Pavilion by KOTRA, in addition to the new and returning resources at the
Show, and an assortment of perks for attendees.
“This has been a great
Show for us. We saw a lot of traffic right from the start of the Show, and have
been very busy the entire time,” said Amy Gillett, Executive Account Manager for
Cotton, Inc. “
LA TEXTILE is always a great Show because it has more of a
personal vibe than other Shows, and our customers enjoy attending and finding us
here.”
The impressive list of designers in attendance included St. John
Knits, Monique Lhuillier, BCBG Max Azria, David Meister, Twelfth Street by
Cynthia Vincent, Stylestalker, Seven For All Mankind, Trina Turk, Velvet by
Graham & Spencer, UGG Australia, Bailey 44, Young Fabulous and Broke, Moda
Nicola International, Ella Moss, Splendid, American Apparel, Aldo International,
Nicky Hilton Worldwide, Clare Vivier, Robert Rodriguez, Karen Kane, ABS by Allen
Schwartz, Perry Ellis, Michael Stars, Wildfox Couture, Lucky Brand, Heidi
Merrick, Juicy Couture, C&C California, Arden B, Hale Bob, AKIKO, Bebe,
Forever 21, Poleci, Bella James, Stop Staring Designs, Sol Angeles, Tag Jeans,
Funktional, Three Dots, Oakley, Fluxus, Modcloth, Laugh Cry Repeat, William
Rast, Junkfood Clothing, Elaine Kim, Hard Tail, Beach Bunny Swimwear, Paper
Crown, plus many more. Retailers seen this edition included Scoop, Nasty Gal,
Kohls, Target, Urban Outfitters, Hot Topic, Zulily.com, The Way We Wore, and
Dave & Lil’s, to name a few.
Specialty stores and costume companies
were also very active in attendance this Show. These included Damask, Jessica
McClintock Inc, NBC Entertainment, Los Angeles Opera Costume Shop, The Walt
Disney Company Costume Design, Imagineering, and Resorts, Staples Designer
Services, Pacific Coast Home Furnishings, Michael Levine Inc., Mood Fabrics, The
J. Paul Getty Museum Store, Casa Blanca Bridal, American Intercontinental
University, Feel Good Tea & Gift Company, Napa Valley Linens, Marry Me
Bridal, Over The Top Party Linens, Juxtaposition Home, and Creative Costuming
and Designs, among others.
Resources at this Show were well-rounded,
with categories that included beads and sequins, blanks, color woven shirtings,
cotton blends, denim, embroidery embellished beaded fabrics, knits, jacquards,
faux fur, interior decorative textiles, fasteners, buttons, buckles, zippers,
lace, linen blends, leather suede, organic and eco-friendly fabrics, prints,
ribbons, silk, stretch, suiting, technical functional fabrics, appliqués and
decorative accessories, trend services, yarns, velvet velour, wool and many
more. Additionally, new exhibitors debuting this season among the special
Pavilions and Show floors included 2B Diffusions, ABM Global, Anna Griffin Inc,
Bharat Silks, Crispim Abreu, Edicate C.W. Fasteners & Zippers Corp,
Darlington Fabrics, Lemor Trims, Esteneks, Moda Artisans, Myletex, Blend
Fabrics, PCB Label Co, Inc, Soelco Inc, Timeless Treasures Fabrics of SoHo LLC,
Tradegood. Noteworthy returning mills included Danfield, Inc, Design Knit, Inc,
JM International, Malhia Kent, Simona B USA, Solstiss USA, Friday Fabrics LTD,
AB Creations, Bel Maille, Tiss & Teint, Vema, Junior Hagen LTD, and
EcoHides, to name a few.
“We continue coming back to LA TEXTILE show
after show because it is a great way to be visible on the market, and also meet
new clients,” said Jane Burge, West Coast Director of Sales for Solstiss USA.
“We have been extremely busy this Show, and everyone seems really to be in a
very good mood with a lot of positive excitement.”
The Lenzing Innovation
Pavilion returned for its fifth edition with their impressive network of
affiliated exhibiting partners, which included Asher Fabric Concepts, Design
Knit, Laguna Fabrics, Shara-Tex, Texollini, Unitex, Zentex, Buhler Quality Yarns
Corp., American Fabrics International, Britannia Mills Ltd, Epic
Textiles, Tuscarora Yarns, Impex Textiles, Indigo Handloom, Pacific Coast
Knitting, and Sextet Fabrics. Brand new to the Show was Crispim Abreu LDA,
a Lenzing Partner knitting mill offering full package production from
Portugal.
“Business has been strong and steady this Show,
from new and existing customers alike,” said Robert McAuley, Sales Executive of
Texollini. “We have found a lot of people this Show are looking for Made In
America, and everyone has been upbeat. There is a lot of enthusiasm in the air,
and we are thrilled to be here.”
Also featured this Show was the Korean Pavilion
presented by KOTRA. This edition nearly doubled in size from last October, and
showcased some of Korea’s best mills and distributors in the Fashion Theater,
while celebrating Global Korean Textile Week 2012.
In addition to
textile and design resources, the Show offered attendees a packed schedule of
complimentary seminars presented by industry luminaries Peclers Paris,
Promostyl, Stylesight, WGSN, Lenzing, Fashion Snoops, California Fashion
Association (CFA), Fashion Business Inc. (FBI), Design Options, and Cotton, Inc.
Designers were also encouraged to explore and seek inspiration from the Trend
Gallery, co-curated by WGSN and the CMC, featuring the three main trends for
Fall/Winter 13/14: Hack-tivate, 21st Century Romance, and Living Design.
Furthermore, Lenzing and LA TEXTILE co-hosted an Opening Night Reception Monday
October 22 in the Penthouse. The event included passed appetizers from Trader
Vics LA Live, organic wine bar from Frey Vineyard, and DJ.
“This show
surpassed our expectations and had an overall great positive energy among
exhibitors and attendees alike,” said Oscar Ben Rodriguez, Senior Trade Show
Producer at the CMC. “Traffic was solid and steady throughout the show.”
The Spring/Summer 14 edition of the LA TEXTILE
Show is scheduled for Monday-Wednesday, March 20-22, 2012 at the California
Market Center.
