How to Build a Fashion Website : Brief Summary

Here is how to build a fashion website... Note, this is for small fashion businesses.

1)  Find a domain name (website address).  Here are a few "fashion" relevant that may be for sale.  Fashion Domains.  However, you may want to search for other options.  You can find domain name search resources at sites like GoDaddy, Network Solutions, Domain Discover, etc. (learn more about domain names).

2)  Website Templates : you may want to use a website template rather then code the site yourself.  There are MANY website that can help you with this aspect of the project.  Although I have not used the program, I think that Intuit may have a nice selection.  However, I am not sure if they offer the best pricing.  I would suggest you check aournd before building your fashion website with this system.

3)  Website Design Tool to Add Components to Your Site: you can find a few fashion website design tools listed on Apparel Search.  However, this is just a small sampling of what is available.

4)  Fashion Affiliate Programs : if you aim is to make a little extra money by using affiliate programs, you may want to try Commission Junction, LinkShare, or other affiliate programs.   You can learn a bit about fashion affiliate programs at http://www.apparelsearch.com/terms/F/Fashion_Affiliate_Programs.htm.   You may also want to read the earn money with fashion blogs article.

5)  Adding Data : in addition to developing your own data, you can also utilize information from places such as SuperPages and other similar resources.

If you plan to make a fashion blog, you may want to check out Blogger (that is the program I use for this fashion blog website).

OK, above is NOT all you need to know about building a website.  However, hopefully this will help you get started.

Blog.com Fashion, Clothes, Apparel, and Style

OK, I feel like I have been cheating on my girlfriend (Blogger.com), and have created a Blog.com account as well.  It is true that I have found that Blogger meets all of my needs, but I figured it could not hurt to test out other systems as well.  Hopefully, I will find enough topics to blog about to keep both blogs active... Well, if I run out of steam, I can always delete one of them.  Anyway, hopefully I will be able to post about fashion, clothes, apparel and style on both blogs.

You can check out the Clothes Blog at http://clothes.blog.com

Venue

The venue where Runway212 designers will showcase their Fall 2011 collections is a stunning, one million square foot former railway station, nicknamed "The Tunnel." Built in 1891 and overlooking the Hudson River, it is a unique space with a sleek, industrial feel (hardwood floors, exposed brick walls) that will serve as the ideal backdrop for all design aesthetics, from classic sportswear to avant-garde. Item Level RFID Initiative : Apparel Industry

Here is a brief clip from a recent blog post from Apparel1 from the Fashion Industry Network, "Are you ready for RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) for your clothing company?  Well, ready or not, if you have not already learned a little something about RFID, it could not hurt to get started.  Although I can not teach you much on the subject (due to my lack of knowledge on the issue), I can tell you that their is a new Item Level RFID Initiative under works by a few leading associations and organizations.  You may be aware that many retailers already use RFID, and the standards may be complicated for many small, medium, or large size clothing companies.  Below, will not actually answer your questions regarding RFID for clothing companies, but maybe it will give you a brief introduction to the fact that RFID is growing in importance.  After all, it has it's own "initiative"... Therefore, it certainly seams important..."  Read more about the Item Level RFID Initiative from Apparel 1 at the Fashion Industry Network.

If you have questions or comments regarding the Item Level RFID Initiative, you can ask questions in the fashion industry discussion forum at FIN.

Learn more about RFID for Clothing at the RFID for clothing section on Apparel Search.  From their you can learn about RFID readers, RFID labels, RFID scanners, RFID definitions, and more.  Who ever thought that Radio Frequency Identification could be so fun...  Wow, RFID is really in fashion this year...

Multiple Fashion Awards Scooped by New Look at Company Magazine Ceremony

OK, I apoligize in advance... I was not familiar with Company Magazine prior to reviewing a press release from New Look.  However, after reading and doing a bit of research I see that this is an interesting magazine.  In my defence, I do not live in the UK.  However, I probably should have been familiar with them anyway.  Afterall, they are part of Hearst Digital.  Since the fashion magazine blog is regarding fashion and magazines, I certainly did not want to pass up on the opportunity to write a blog message regarding New Look and the Comapny Fashion Awards from the Company Magazine.
High Street trend setters New Look have walked away from the prestigious Company Fashion Awards with a handful of significant awards, cementing their position as the leading creator of high fashion, high street clothing.

The ceremony, which included amongst New Look's competitors other high profile fashion brands, was voted for by Company Magazine's online readership.

New Look walked away with a place in the Best Place to spend 50 pounds and Best Plus Size Clothes categories and took first position for offering the Best Shoes under 50 pounds.
The three awards are a significant scoop for the high street fashion retailer, which has continually evolved its fashion brand since 1969 when the company was founded in Weymouth, Dorset. It now has over 800 stores in the UK, Eire and mainland Europe.

New Look have continued to stay ahead of the high street fashion pack by teaming up with recognisable faces that appeal to a fashion savvy market and continue to offer their own adaptations of cool cutting edge clothes like skinny jeans. Amongst the famous faces that have represented the brand in recent years are Drew Barrymore, Pixie Geldof, and Alexa Chung.
This season New Look has recession busting seasonal offers on their party dresses, which are available online. As you'd expect prices are in keeping with their Under 50 pounds category competition wins, reflecting New Look's continuing commitment to providing on trend glam at affordable prices.

Learn more about fashion magazines on the Apparel Magazine website or you can learn more about online fashion magazines on Apparel Search.  Either way, be sure to check out the Company Magazine and take some time to learn more about New Look.  By the way, if you are looking for a "new look", you may want to consult with a fashion consultant...

By the way, you can learn more about awards on Apparel Search.  However, this is more in regard to red carpet celebrity fashion awards then the type of award listed in this blog post.

Bill Gates of Fashion

Wow, you would really have to be conceited to call yourself the Bill Gates of Fashion.  Or maybe, you would be completely joking when you called yourself the Bill Gates of Fashion and therefore would have been not funny, but not conceited either..  What if someone else referred to you as the Bill Gates of Fashion and then it simply would not be your fault at all, and you would technically not be conceited.

OK, it is quite possible that this blog post is making absolutely no sense to you at all.  Well, the fact of the matter is that I wanted to call someone the Bill Gates of Fashion because I thought the terms was sort of cool.  Technically, I have no good purpose for using the term the Bill Gates of Fashion and frankly I do not know anyone that would qualify to be called the Bill Gates of Fashion.  However, isn't a blog a perfect place to write something that is of interest to yourself but may actually be of no interest to others???  The reality is that I am not writing a fashion book.  And you are not being charged to read this silly blog post.. Anyway, I woke up this morning and the term the Bill Gates of Fashion had popped into my head.  So, I thought I would create the term.  Now, I wonder if anyone else has ever called themselves or someone else the Bill Gates of Fashion.  I actually know who is NOT the Bill Gates of fashion.  Do you know someone that would have similarities?
