Vera Wang Groom Guide
Wedding style doesn’t stop at the gown and bridesmaid dresses. How your man looks (and feels) is just as important. (It’s his big day, too!)
At Men’s Wearhouse, you’ll not only find the new, exclusive BLACK by Vera Wang rental tuxedo collection, but you’ll find a style fit for your groom and your wedding theme—from black tie to casual.
Not sure what type of tux he should wear? Or if he should wear a tux at all? His wedding-day attire will be the perfect balance between your wedding’s theme and his fashion sense.
Here’s a quick, go-to guide to help you get started:
CLASSIC
Is your gown formal, timeless, and the epitome of sophisticated? Then your groom’s outfit should be, too. A classic black tuxedo—with a white shirt and black bow tie and cummerbund—will look stunning on him.
ROMANTIC
When your dress has a little frill, flounce, lace, maybe some beading, it’s more than just elegance you're after. It's all about capturing the drama. Let his tux capture some, too. More luxurious and glamorous, his options will depend on the time of day.
For a morning or mid-day affair, consider a cutaway or morning coat with a wing-collared dress shirt, ascot, and striped pants. One step further: full dress tails with suspenders, a white shirt, vest, and bow tie. For an evening wedding, think about a chic black or gray tuxedo paired with a white vest and bow tie.
MODERN
Sleek and stylish, your dress is designed to grab attention. (And your heels may even add a pop of color.) So make sure his tux also turns heads. He can’t go wrong with a slim-fit, one- or two-button tuxedo with a notch lapel and white shirt and tie. And if he’s not feeling the tux, a gray or navy suit (with a belt, not suspenders) and a coordinating tie—solid or patterned—is the next best thing.
CASUAL
The whole event is intended to feel effortless and free-spirited—and that includes your gown and his tux. On the formal side of casual is a chocolate or ivory tuxedo with complementing earth tones. Quintessentially casual is a light-colored suit—usually linen—worn with a white shirt and graphic tie that color coordinates with you.
